Institute of Fundamental Technological Research - Polish Academy of Sciences
The Institute of Fundamental Technological Research Polish Academy of Sciences (IPPT PAN) is one of the biggest research institutions within the structure of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Over the years IPPT PAN has established itself as a leading research institution, making significant contribution to many science and engineering areas and enjoying a high reputation, both in Poland and abroad.
Between 2004 and 2015, more than 115 international projects financed mainly within the FP5, FP6, FP7 and H2020 were implemented at the Institute. IPPT PAN is a Member of all Polish Technology Platforms (PTP) and co-founder of the Polish Institute of Technology. The Institute became the principal founder of the European Virtual Institute on Knowledge-based Multifunctional Materials AISBL (KMM-VIN). Wide experience in international cooperation has resulted in establishing at IPPT PAN the Polish National Contact Point for Research Programmes of the EU (NCP-PL).
NCP-PL was appointed in 1999 by the Ministry responsible for scientific research to support Poland's participation in FP5. Since then, its main goal is to promote the EU R&I programmes (currently H2020, COSME and structural programmes). It is being achieved through info-days, conferences, trainings, consultancy, facilitating partner search and promoting S&T international co-operation. NCP-PL operates as an umbrella for the entire H2020 through a country-wide network with headquarters in Warsaw (11 Regional Consortia of Contact Points, cooperating with Thematic Contact Points at Polish Technology platforms PTPs). NCP-PL is the national coordinator of the Polish EURAXESS network. The national NCP staff comprises about 50 highly qualified experts (incl. members of H2020 Programme Committees) with scientific background and deep knowledge of EU Programmes.
IPPT PAN/NCP-PL has a wide experience in coordinating FP6 INCO projects focused on Eastern European countries and was actively involved in the FP7 Inco-Net EECA project, acting as a WP Leader responsible for strengthening the participation of the EECA region in FP7, as a task leader dealing with CIP and as an organizer of the PSC in framework of the Polish Presidency in the Council of the EU. Currently, IPPT PAN actively participates in the Inco-Net EaP and Black Sea Horizon and is the administrative coordinator of the Inco-Net CA project (FP7).
