Project Management Agency at the DLR (German Aerospace Center)
The DLR Project Management Agency (Part of the German Aerospace Center, DLR) is a service organisation engaging in the promotion of research, education and science. The agency provides strategic and programmatic advice on conceptualising and designing funding measures, supervises funding projects on a technical and administrative level and supports bi- and multilateral cooperations worldwide.
The International Bureau (IB) is an organisational unit within the DLR Project Management Agency of the German Centre for Aviation and Space Travel (DLR) and has more than 20 years of experience in international research management and regional expertise relating to different countries and regions on all continents.
The IB uses the funding provided by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research to try out, prepare and expand international cooperations between German universities, institutions outside the university system and companies.
The IB supports a stable international research and education cooperation between Germany and its partners. The IB offers financial support when setting up new contacts and cooperation and advises German universities, companies and institutions outside the university system on international research collaboration.
The various services of the IB support the internationally focused activities of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). These are focused on the political strategies of the Federal Government – above all the internationalisation strategy for science and research. It is also in line with the framework and specialised programmes of the Federal Research Ministry and its bi- and multilateral agreements with partners across the world.
In order to prepare and further develop this cooperation strategy and to offer international benchmarking for German research and innovation policy, the International Bureau monitors and analyses international developments in research and education policy. In addition, it designs, develops and maintains international research and education cooperation websites.
An important part of the work of the International Bureau is in advising project partners and in promoting international cooperation projects.
